Given that most movies are very formulaic(sp.?) and not very original anymore, imho. What was the last movie that actually had you sit back and say "I didn't see that coming." Mine was The Usual Suspects. The first time i saw it i was so into the movie i missed soem of the obvious clues and the second time i watched it i couldn't believe I missed it.

Memento. The characters are so rich and everything is so engrossing that I wasn't looking for the twists and turns, so when they came, wow.

Usual Suspects again.  Also To Live and Die in LA...  I won't ruin it for anyone who didn't see it, but the last segment of that movie surprised the hell out of me.
