Paul Naschy's first film is known as LA MARCA DEL EL HOMBRE LOBO (translation: THE MARK OF THE WOLF MAN) is known under it's misleading American title FRANKENSTEIN'S BLOODY TERROR. I finaly got a hold of a copy of this rare film and I must say I really enjoyed it. It was a freaky film with touches of the old 1930's and 1940's monster films of Universal.

However, the U.S. editing really reaks havoc on the films plot. That and the panning and scaning is pretty bad. I would really like to see it in it's original Super 70mm "Chill-o-Rama". As for the connection of Frankenstein, it is sort of a turn off for the viewer. An animated prolouge sequence featuring Frankenstein being connected to the film's character of Irne Wolfstein is a bit of a cheap shock effect. But the animated sequence is pretty impressive. But Frankenstein is nowhere in sight as it features Waldemar Daninsky in his werewolf state and two vampires.

I am hoping that the original Spanish uncut version will be released by Anchor Bay. After all, they are releasing THE WEREWOLF'S SHADOW (1971; U.S. Title: THE WEREWOLF VS. VAMPIRE WOMAN) and CURSE OF THE DEVIL (1973) on video soon.

All in all, a fun movie.
