only a couple come to mind Evil Dead II was much better that the original also the sequel to mimic was far superior to the first it was very b-movie and had a little bit of a neo-noir feel

Recently I thought both the second Harry Potter and the LOTR were better than their predecessors. Empire strikes back has got to be the best SW film of all of them. The second Star Trel film was INFINATELY superior to the first. Deathstalker Two was just way funny.

I always liked the first evil dead more than the second- considering the second is more comical it's hard for me to compare them though.
Day of the dead I always liked more than night and dawn. Most people would probably disagree with me on this one though.
The second Daimajin (wrath of daimajin I believe) is a lot more fun than the first.

This is a pretty rare occurence and I'm sure I forgot something but I'm running blank.

I think I can safely jump on the Evil Dead 2 bandwagon.  Gamera 3 is a pretty safe bet at destroying the competition (especially considering Gamera: Guardian of the Universe was a half-assed attempt at best - c'mon, Gamera looked like a freakin' Pokemon in that movie).
I always find myself wrestling with which Alien flick I like best.  I'm one of the four people on the planet who actually really likes the third one, I think.

I liked the third alien movie, not asmuch as the first two but hey.

Anyway,

Carnosaur 2 and 3

Watchers 2 and 3 (and 4 because that was just too funny)

Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead (1990)

Crocodile 2: Death Swamp

Leprechaun 2, 3, and 4

Some of the Godzilla movies beat the original.

And hey, there is more out there so keep watching the sky... or Television

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

I liked ALIEN 3 too.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned THE ROAD WARRIOR!

I thought Blade 2 outclassed Blade 1 in every way.

That one has my vote.

For whats it worth, I thought Maniac Cop II was better than the first, and the third one better than either of those.  Which is pretty rare.
