Guys.  Used to be back in the early 90's our local general store also carried videos.  Now they dont and one of the videos I'm sure they had is elluding me.  Anyone out there remember a 70's moive called "The Devilfish"?   THe cover art showed, if I remember it right, a surfer with a big, nasty, toothy fish showing through the transparent wave he was riding.  Anyone else see this one?  I never got to and wanted to know the plot

Don't know where you can find it uncut, but it showed up on MST3K a year or two back. IIRC, it was an Italian Jaws-knockoff featuring an octopus (no, I'm not thinking of Tentacles), only I'm pretty sure it turned out to be a robot built by the government, or something like that. I don't think any surfers turned up in the movie-- The fish/octopus thing mainly just raided boats.

Ringneck may be recalling a pre-production poster for a project by Bert I. Gordon that was never made (Back in the Eighties? Can't remember. Last mention I saw of it was in "Starlog.") I don't recall a surfer in the piece, just a very ugly and fangy fishface looking directly at me from the waves, and the title "Devil Fish"...of course, it's not related to the Italian "Jaws" ripoff.

Well, that's the one Vermin Boy mentioned, the MST3K victim. There's also "Barracuda: The Lucifer Project"--perhaps time's passage is cross-wiring some of Ringneck's memories? The only other "DevilFish" titles in the IMDb are a movie from the 30s and an alternate title of "Frankenstein Conquers The World (!!!!)."

Yep...  figured he might want to read the couple of comments on the film on IMDb.  Sounds like a pretty strange picture.  And in spite of the many flaws of the IMDb, it's a good resource at times, if one can look past often incomplete/erroneous info.

They served up that fishy well , did Mike and the Bots. Sounds like the film your talkin' about. Maby the film had alternate titles, or they just has varied packaging, to play a shell game with that smelly, bloated carcas.

Squish.  Sure sounds like the image I saw(my memory may have added the surfer), but I know I saw it on a video box---could the poster image have been "borrowed" from something else?  BL

Looks like the Italian flick was it, the tentacles/government angle seemed to tingle a couple brain cells so that part was porbably on the back of the box.  BradLaGrange
