A local tv station has added a new program to their late saturday night lineup. It's called Really Cheesy Theater, and it's a return to the late late shows I used to enjoy so much as a kid, but which seem to have vanished. Tonights entry was some weird ass old sci-fi from the 50's. I Came in too late for the beginning, so I missed the title. But, I do know that it starred an aging Brian Donlevy, as a scientist. it was set in England and had to do with our pal, Brian, trying to prevent aliens from colonizing the earth with the use of their mind controlling meteorites. It had shoddy production values and cinematography(the aliens looked like Mr. Snuffleupagus in a gilly suit). The acting, however, was pretty damned good, and the pacing was brisk.
 The film was made probably in the mid 50's and had kind of an X-files feel to it. Again I don't know the title but I do know it was a Hammer movie and that it was filmed at on oil refinery in Essex(this according to the end-credits). If anyone knows the title please let me know.
 I am thrilled that I can finally watch bad movies as they were intended, half drunk, late at night. The movie was even commercial free, sort of, the program is sponsored by Papa John's pizza, so there's a Papa John's logo in the bottom corner of the screen throughout. But, small price to pay. Now if only the show had a host, kinda of a Peter Vincent: Vampire Killer, kinda thing. Excellent entertainment!

I don't think I've seen that one, but from your description, it's Quatermass II, AKA Enemy from Space. You can read a review of it here;

That's it exactly! Thanks vey much JohnL! Now that I know this is a series, I will definitely look into finding the others. I'm more familiar with Brian Donlevy as the heavy in the westerns and gangster flicks of the 30's and 40's. It's cool to see him play the hero, especially in a pretty tight little sci-fi flick. If you haven't seen this one, you absolutely should. This one is, I think, in the same category as "Them!". You can tell someone put some thought into the plot. Thanks again for your help.
