A Night to Dismember is simply one of the worst movies ever.  That's a mighty bold statement, but a Night to Dismember lives up to every word of it.  Before being released to DVD, A Night to Dismember was a rare find on VHS, and probably for good reason.  The movie is an incoherent mess, and in the audio commentary track, we learn this is because about 60% of the film was destroyed by a bitter film lab employee, mad his company was going under.  So, Wishman spent 8 months using the rest of the footage and outakes to assemble a new movie.  The results are pure hilarity.

Throw everything you know about bad movies out the window.  A Night to Dismember is narrated by an omniscient detective.  The movie features no one speaking at all.....The few voices we hear are dubbed by either the narrator or Wishman, who does the female voices.  At one point, a dog barks....What do we get?  Someone doing their best dog barking impersonation.  There is plenty of blood and gore, H.G. Lewis style, however none of it is convincing and it only adds to the hilarity.  Especially the obvious wax head that ends up in a fireplace in one scene.  I could try to explain the plot, but that's half the fun of watching the movie....It really makes very little sense.  The horror music in the movie, sounds like something you would find in a library.

The DVD extras are fantastic....First, the trailer for A Night To Dismember is fascinating to watch.  As we learn on the commentary track, Wishman shoots her trailer before she shoots the movie, to lure investors in.  So, the trailer we see is NOTHING like the actual end product.  In fact, I don't think there's one shot from the trailer that ends up in the movie.   The commentary track , done by Wishman and her director of photography is hilarious.   I'm sure how much of it is serious and how much of it is joking, but Wishman is constanty yelling at the poor guy.  She bumps into her mic about 4 times, and he keeps having to tell her not to do it.   I don't think she understood the point of a commentary track either, because she yells at him a couple of times to not give the movie away.  What's more fascinating is that she is so proud of the product, when it is so obviously a very horrible movie.  Her DOP seems to understand to what a piece of crap it is, and basically humors her for a lot of the movie, and also makes some very funny sarcastic remarks.  Wishman also wanders all over the map, trying to talk about future possible projects and even an anecdote about a completely different movie.  Fascinating track to listen to.

If you REALLY love bad movies....Children of the Living Dead, Carnival of Blood kinda bad.....You need to add this to your collection.
