"We thought you were a toad!"
Muppets from Space!
After receiving messages via his breakfast cereal and The Cosmic Fish Gonzo prepares to meet his relatives from Outer Space. A Man in Black (Jeffrey Tambor) discovers Gonzo's extraterrestrial heritage and kidnaps him in the hopes of impressing the Pentagon brass (PAT HINGLE!). Will Gonzo escape? Will he ever meet his relatives? Did pigs make it into space? One funny, and sweet, little movie, albeit with a story that, in comparison, makes cotton candy look as dense as concrete. 4 slimes.
Joel Coen edited The Evil Dead so I'll mention Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? here, though it is by no stretch of the imagination a bad movie.
The Brothers Coen did it again. This time around they combine the Southern Gothic flavors of Manly Wade Wellman and William Faulkner with Homer's The Odyssey in 1937 Mississippi when a trio of convicts escape to hunt for the treasure one has hidden away before a newly constructed dam covers it with a lake (hey, we had better toss in James Dickey's Deliverance, the novel more so than the movie, just for good measure). It's another richly textured delight from the creators of Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, and Fargo.
