PALE RIDER (1985) - Well, this is one of Eastwoods best. I had some good laughs and the man with no name sure takes care of business. I love westerns were dynamite is involved.

Did anyone notice that the beginning of PALE RIDER is exactly like CONAN THE BARBARIAN when the riders come into the mining camp with guns instead of swords. These films are only 3 years apart. Anyway this rates up there with HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER. Very good film. THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY is in a league all by itself.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is the best film ever made, period.

Wow!  Nobody here talks about this film.  I do need to sit thru it when it isn't 1:30 onto 2pm... I did see most of the beginning and MICHAEL MORIARTY's poor humbled everyman and his pretty unraped daughter's forest prayer over her dead cutie poopie... suddenly CLINT with-an-axe-handle NINJA fux 8 or 9 bullies... gutsy dude then disappearing hero... gluttonous fool villain... ghostly rider saves day... what I saw of it was bad.  Really bad.  In that badly great way we love though it sucks ass.  I think this must be a Bad movie mainstay.
Or or or or or, it's a MASTERPIECE!  You believe me don't you?

I saw this movie in the theater when I was very little.  And I've seen it so, so many more times over the years.  It was one of the first VHS tapes we got with our first VCR and it used to come on TV a LOT.  (It still comes on quite often on The Western Channel.)  I can never hate it but, if I never see it again, I'll be fine with that.

I loved it when I saw it in the theater.  Over the years, I've lost some of that love, but I still think it's a good movie.  It borrows heavily from other westerns, including HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER and SHANE.  But it's still a fine piece of entertainment.

I saw it in the cinema when it was first released: I enjoyed it. The only thing that made me go  Buggedout Buggedout is the realization that the Preacher is actually supposed to be a ghost.  Buggedout

It's an old favorite of mine.  Sydney Penny puts in a great performance and of course Clint...is Clint. Thumbup Really good atmosphere throughout as well.

I will definitely make a point to sit thru this asap!   Smile
I saw most, but not all, of it, and what I saw was entertaining... and derivative... and ridiculous.   Wink
I was laughing thru that axe-handle scene!!  I think I love it.

This is not a bad movie. Wrong forum? Or was there not a Good Movies forum in 2003 when this thread was posted?
