List, just did some sorting of the old VHS tapes I had hiding in a long forgotten box.  Mostly old TV episodes but a few good moives mixed in.

Ambush Bay---  James Mitchum and Mickey Rooney as Marine Raiders in the PI's shortly before our re-invasion.  They have 36 hours to determine if the Japs know our plans, and if so to warn the invasion fleet.

Not a bad movie but hampered by p**s poor FX and costuming.  Most of the camo they wear to mimic real Mairne raiders is some foriegn or commercial stuff that only mimics real WWII Raider/"Duckhunter" camo the way a Maverick mimics a Mustang.  Also teh mixing of post war M1945/1951 gear with WWII stuff makes for an interesting look.  James Mitchum looks like he put on his gear by rolling around in it till some of it stuck(even non military personel wil notice this), while Mickey Rooney looks and acts like he spent years at Ft. Benning(notice his gun handling in the fight scenes especially).  Really gooney part at theend where they raid a Japanese base that is really a modern looking Fillipino instillation.  Still worth a look, I think it is on  TNT during Operation TNT quite abit

The Mountain Road--- Jimmy Stewart, Sheriff Rosco P Coltraine, and Col. Sherman Potter are Army engineers blasting their way across China delaying the Japs in their summer offensive of 1944.  Lots of explosions, a cool scene where Stewart destroyers an entire Chinese village because of bandits, and a Chinese Colonel played by a Mexican, accent and all.  More of an action fick set during the war than a strait war film.

The Thin Red Line(Origional)---I have mentioned this movie about a thousand times and will keep doing so.  GREAT little movie and totally forgotten(mainly because none of the actors were never famous afterwords)nowadays.  Very dark for its day.

Basically the main character(probably a buck sgt, but he wears no rank, as common in the PTO), Doll has decicded rather than let the army do his thinking for him, he will survive by always doing the opposite of expected.  This conflicts with the seemingly antognistic platoon sgt who tells everyone he will get them through by doing their thinking for them.  THe platoon sgt also seems liek a jerk, but you realize he is just trying to toughen Doll up, and help get him through.

THe officers are pretty intersting too.  The colonel is a hell for leather type, the way we like to think of foot ball coaches from the past.  He is constantly at odds with the Captain, who tries to avaoid getting people killed by being cautious and ends up causing more fatalities by loosing the initative in battles.

Not sure if anynetworks ever show this, but if it comes on or comes back to video, GRAB IT.
