"Percy" (Brit slang for male organ) (1971) - This horrific alleged Brit comedy centres around the world's first penis transplant, and the efforts of the recipient to find the donor. Cue many variations (all groan-inducing) of one phallic joke - the transplanted member seeks out the donor's ex-lovers. Incredibly the makers ended up with a movie over a hundred minutes long, and even more incredibly a sequel (Percy's Progress) followed 3 years later, and absolutely even more incredibly Vincent Price agreed to appear in it! He must have owed the producers money, or it was an act of revenge by his agent - whatever the reason this has to be Price's career low-point. Both movies are spectacularly awful, and I'm afraid they're typical examples of Brit "comedies" of the 70s (With the honourable exception of the Monty Python movies). Funny for all the wrong reasons, and badmovies in anyone's language.

Percy is shortly to be released on DVD, I think by Something Weird, and, I think, under the alternate title The Amazing Transplant.

I know how incredible it sounds about VP (It was around this time that he made the Dr. Phibes movies - talk about high and low points!) but I'm afraid it's true. To give some credit to him, he looks suitably embarrassed. The Amazing Transplant sounds as though it's the same movie - buy it for it's sheer awfulness. (Please don't tar all us Brits with the same brush!). Just to make sure it is the same, the "stars" are Hywel Bennett and Britt Ekland, Price only appeared in the sequel.
