I can't answer all of your questions, but I can answer question 3:

Rent both.

If you need to pick one, then pick Dawn of the Dead .  It's a damn fine movie, well worth watching.  With the possible exception of Night of the Living Dead and Dead Alive , it is the greatest zombie movie ever made.

This isn't to say that Day is bad.  I haven't seen it myself.  I have, however, read several books of Horror reviews (all part of my quest to see EVERY HORROR MOVIE EVER MADE*) and, as a rule, Day is rated as the lesser of the three.  So put it off for a bit and see Dawn

Hope that helps.

Day is very long on talk and low on action--I was really disappointed in it when I first saw it.

The Book of the Dead "Limited Edition" seems to be the one to get.

The new one.  It contains the Criterion Collection commentary, both the original and televison edit versions, a 90 minute documentary, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Day of the Dead - I loves me the underrated classic.

Netflix has it in their library.

OOps, yet another question

Who directed the original Night of the Living Dead. I want to see it. I have also seen a color remake that was excellent and wonder who that is directed by??? The remake happens quickly, some people are visiting a dead relative and are immediately attacked by zombies

George romero the creator and genius behind the modern zombie is also the director of the original night of the living dead.

Tom savini who was the make up artist for dawn and ay of the dead as well as many other movies directed the remake in 1990. Romero rewrote the script for the remake BTW.

Did you guys know savini was originally gonna be the make up artist for night as well? But he was called into vietnam(took photos of the war)

1) When buying the Evil Dead DVD, which version should I get there seems to be a million of them?

Answer: I went ahead and spent the money on the Book Of The Dead edition.  Looks cool, and the special features are seriously worth the money.

2) When buying the Halloween DVD which one should I get, or is there another one coming out soon?

Answer: I have the special edition Anchor Bay print.  Pretty good special features.  Documentaries, commentary, etc.  I picked it up at halloween two years ago for about 10 bucks at walmart.

3) What movie should I rent, Day of the Dead or Dawn of the Dead, I couldnt remember off the top of my head? I need reccomendations!

Answer: Dawn Of The Dead, no question.  By far a better flick than Day...a personal favorite of mine.

4) Where the hell can I find a copy of the Cube, Blackbuster only has Cube 2... blech!

Answer: Try a local mom and pop store.  Most carry indie flicks.

1) It depends on how many "extras" you want, and how much money you want to spend. I bought the Anchor Bay version (without all of the bells and whistles).

2) Do NOT buy the one with the scenes they added for television.

3) I would go with Dawn of the Dead

4) I have a copy . . . but it's MINE, MINE, MINE, and no one else can touch it!

Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead are two very different kind of zombie movies...

Sure most people well think Day of the Dead is a bad zombie movie because of its small field (I've seen this movie like 4 times, sorry but I dont like it that much...) Sure it has the gore, and in most cases Day of the Dead has the best gore of the 3 zombie movies... But that is all that it has going for it... I do think this could of been a better movie if they did the following things...

1, go by the orginal script (Not too many people know this but the orginal Day of the Dead script was trashed because they couldnt get the budget),

2, The zombie with feelings was bad... and he was shooting the gun was even worse... I've seen too many bad zombie films that the zombies were using guns {City of the Walking Dead} so this seems kind of crapy...

3, And then the military was a bunch of Cry Babies, and seem to be so few (once again making the movie to fit the budget) This part kind of bugs me because in Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead the soldiers are very organized... Even Crazies the soldiers are organized... But in this movie they were very much in disorder...

4, disorder would of been good if they kept it like that... Like why bother working with the science crew... if they are going to be disorder go all the way... This would work better if you could have a bunch of soldiers killing off the good soldiers in the begining of the movie and they try to escape thru the city and that would make a better story. Or even a better idea, a bunch of soldier's go AWOL and make an escape thru the city (it would even be better if those soldier were trying to steal gold) (but then I could only guess the budget would say no)

5, The underground complex is far easer then the basement in Night of the Living Dead (sorry I know budget was written in for that part) and saidly it dosent work for me because the complex is underground, and hidden and if the zombies do have any memories they would not go to the underground complex... and then when you think of underground complex there is many sub levels (once again the budget can be seen in this movie as you know most of the story seems to be mine and a airplane hanger) and lets not forget that they are miles away...

Dawn of the Dead (which is by far the best zombie movie ever) has a stronger story that many people who watch it could agree...

I would go with Dawn of the Dead anyday of the week... :D

As for Evil Dead goes... get the one that looks like a book, it looks cool...

As for the Cube... try E-bay...

and Halloween get the one with additional TV footage...

The original NIGHT is better than DAWN--DAWN has that part in the middle where nothing of interest really happens.  I need to check out the shorter European version, that may be the best of all.

The trouble with DAY is that there's maybe about 10 minutes of excitement in the entire movie.   I've seen the original script and I don't know that it would have been much better even if he'd had the budget for it.  "Good guy" and "bad guy" zombies fighting each other?   Maybe he was just tired of the original concept and wanted to turn it into an action-oriented thing.   I don't think it would have worked.

Get THE EVIL DEAD "Book of the Dead" Limited Edition DVD set. The film was remastered and looks better. It's also presented in it's original 1.85:1 Theatrical Aspect Ratio.

While the old Elite Entertainment and Anchor Bay DVD's were in 1.33:1 Full Frame format, most movie purists out there prefer it in that format and view the new 1.85:1 widescreen release as terrible. Yet, 1.85:1 was the Aspect Ratio that it was presented in the theatres back in 1982 and it was the way director Sam Raimi intended it to be presented in.

The Anchor Bay version I have is 1.85 : 1 widescreen, not 1.33 : 1. I wouldn't have bought a full frame version.
