Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to discuss this.

I rented Rambo, not knowing anything about it except it is one of Stallone's bigger movies and figured I should get to know the series since they are making a fourth one.

I actually was shocked by Rambo, and found it to be a very interesting and exciting movie to even today's standards. My younger brother did not know the horrors Vietnam Vets faced after the war and the utter disgrace they had in the eyes of America. I found it was interesting to see this man, a war hero, being pushed to the edge and even mistreated by the same country he had fought for.

I also enjoyed Brian Dennehey's acting (he was the sheriff). I found him and most of the other cops just very disagreeable.

Spoiler

While watching the commentary, I discovered that in the book, Rambo is killed by his captain. I like thisending better than Rambo just turning himself in. Rambo is obviously a tortured soul with nothing left to live for, no dignity, friends family, or even a steady job. It would have been to me the ultimate relief for him. I suspect they didnt kill him, with hopes they could do a sequal.

Interesting side note, Kirk Douglass was soupposed to play the part of Rando's captain, but turned it down and left the movie set due to the fact that Rambo isnt killed at the end.

Anyways, what would happen if something like this occured in real life with a mistreated wa hero???

Also, I checked out Cider House Rules, decent movie, plus a shot of Charlize Theron's butt, ha cha

First Blood ranks up there as a top 10 favorite for me!

I remember watching it as a kid....it was my first time seeing an M60 machine gun and I wanted one so bad!

Stallone lays waste to an entire town with one!

Part 2 was pretty good as well.

Part 3 was....ummm...errr.....well ok I guess.

Part 3 seems a little better now because of recent events in Afghanistan.

I always remember that Russian officer in the helicopter yelling, "Drop your veapons und remain vhere you ah!"
