I listen to Public Radio a lot of the time when I am driving around for work and this morning on their show Morning Edition they had a piece about Godzilla and Ishiro Honda the guy who created him.
Mr. Honda never thought Godzilla would become so big (fame wise). They said he died disappointed though, because he thought the original might help curb nuclear proliferation. I've known this forever along with quite a few folks that visit here that Godzilla was an allegory for the atom bombs dropped on Japan.
An interesting tidbit they dropped in about the Americanized version of Godzilla was about the Raymond Burr bits they put in. Seems they only had one day in a small studio and they kept Burr there for 24 hours and filmed every scene he was in .
I thought it was nice of a network known for their serious news to give a nod to the big guy on his 50th.
