I bought this video about 5 months ago and finally got a chance to watch it.  It is billed as Jackie Chan's Directorial debut.

It wound up being  a pretty entertaining fllck to watch with some friends in a kung fu marathon night.  However there was one problem that I had.

The first ten minutes of the video were of Jackie Chan training the actors and of some guy narrating and saying "Jackie Chan was the martial arts director and cannot appear in the film, he is sorry."  And then it went on with him training the actors in a red background!! For 10 minutes and throughout the narrator kept explaining things like "  Jackie had to make sure all the moves were done correctly" and "It is a grueling process for Jackie to not be in the film.".  Then after that was over I had to sit through the credits which was another 7 minutes of two guys doing exhibitions in a red background.    Now the film runs 90 minutes and I'm not sure if that counts he training sequences or not but they seemed interminable.
And a few times I actually considered turning the ideo off because it was getting redundant but I sat through it and enjoyed the film.

I guess I found the title a bit misleading.  Just like Ninja Checkmate.

Sorry for my disjointed reasoning I'm still a bit tired.

Yeah, I bought the video a while back as well... My initial thought was that Jackie Chan was in the movie as well, however he's not.

Needless to say, the movie is pretty zany and full of kung-fu cliches: avenging death of someone, learning shaolin kung-fu to defeat baddies and a half-witted, goofy hero.

The dammnest thing about the entire movie is that the bad guys keep sending these telegrams to challenge our hero... In the final challenge, the hero even gets an extension—a gang leader that lets you off for another month?
