I think that though Pyun's head might require a shark cage to investigate, there is no way to safely look into Richard or Danny Elfman's psyche.  I tried to review it, but would probably have done better (at conveying the film) if I just stood knee-deep in jello and slapped myself while grunting at you.

'"Forbidden Zone" is weird.'  Yeah, I know it's out of context, but as it is it's one helluva understatement.  Good work, Andrew.  There's no way I'd even try to describe this sucker.

Mrs. Apostic and I showed it on a movie night with the theme "1980: The Year in Musicals You Don't See Often."  Xanadu,  Can't Stop the Music, and Forbidden Zone[./i].  (We had The Apple, but it was instantly vetoed.)  Forbidden Zone was easily the favorite.  (Yeah, not much of a choice...)

BTW, the boxers in the clip are the Kipper Brothers.  Check out their act in the deleted scenes on the UHF dvd.

This is one of my all-time favorite films....I guess I better read the review post-haste!

[later]

Great review....heh heh..."Dad is a sailor, mom is little better..."  Spoken like a true Marine!  Slight correction though...the sailor was just some guy Squeezit's mom picked up.  Also, I think the frog's name was Buzz Rod, not Bust Rod.

Squeezit went on to direct FREEWAY.

Anyway, well done.

Ooooh,doggies.
Yep. Just describing what happened is as close to explaining this thing as you can get. Drug induced hallucination, or 1d6 used on the "Random occourance table"?...you decide.

I have not unpacked all my movies yet, so I cannot check the VHS.  However, I am really  certain that Squeezit's mother introduces the sailor as his old man.  Just before Squeezit gets punched.  Checked the IMDB and at least it says that the frog butler was "Bust Rod."  I usually try to get all the names right from the credits (when there are credits).

I had never heard of this film until now.

I read the review here and most of them on the IMDB.

I must see this movie!

If any of you are looking to pick this one up go to Suncoast Video.

They said they could order it for me for $6.99!

That's assuming it's the movie reviewed here...there's no pic for the box art on their website.  And I noticed that it was released by Full Moon which makes me doubt if it is indeed the correct film.

Here's the link:

That's probably Forbidden Zone-Alien Abduction (1996).  Had a video release in 1998.

I was wondering that as well.

I saw the "Alien Abduction" and figured it was probably that one.

The guy at Suncoast even mentioned that if it was indeed the wrong one, I wasn't obligated to buy it if I ordered it.
