There'e a lot of old b-movie stars that ain't up to much these days that could run for governor,

...say!  That sounds like an idea for a movie....!

Oh my god, that does sound like an idea for a b-movie.  I can just see it now.. a political thriller starring Gary Busey, Joe Don Baker, John Saxon, Lance Henriksen, Jim Kelly, David Hess, and David Carradine.  Directed by Albert Pyun.  Jesus, I better stop while I'm ahead.  I might give someone ideas..

As for Ahnuld, there's a good chance he's gonna win in California.  First California, next.. Presidency!  Unfortunately, he wasn't born in this country.. but maybe they'll overlook that little rule, just because of what he's given us cinematically (is that even a word?).

Vice President would be Stallone.  After Spy Kids, I doubt he'll be very busy for the next few years.

You should live in Louisiana where you know your politicians are crooks.   We had an investigation done on the senate election.  The investigation turn up dead people voting, people voting up to ten times, and other problems.   It was determined that the election was going to stand.   There was no evidence for a reelection.

GOOD LUCK IN CA!

I live in California too, and I would vote for Arnies dog over that dumb@$$ Grey Davis. He likes to remind everyone that this recall is going to cost Californians 65 million bucks that could go to educational programs.
Its his way of saying if you recall me you'll be sorry.

He's got a point there, though....this election is going to cost big bucks.   I hope Davis loses otherwise it's millions of dollars down the drain for nothing.

I'd probably vote for Bustamante or whatever his name is.   Actually, I don't see why it isn't just a case of either Davis winning and keeping his job or losing and Bustamante automatically becoming governor.   I don't know why everyone else is being allowed to run....but I guess it's legal since the court threw out the various lawsuits.  It doesn't make sense to me, though....for example, when Nixon resigned Gerald Ford became President...they didn't have a special election to decide who was going to be President.   But I guess it depends on the state's constitution.

Bustamante being in the race probably means Davis will lose.  He'll siphon off a lot of the Latino vote.

But they could do worse than elect Arnold--he's definitely in the mold of a California Republican--moderate on a lot of the social issues--which is why I think he probably wouldn't be elected as President even if he were able to be--the conservatives in the GOP don't seem to like Arnold that much.

The only way I'll get to vote is if they move the election to March...I don't know, I might not even get to vote then depending on what the rules are--can you vote in a recall election if you weren't a registered voter when the original election was held?  They probably should move it to March because it sounds like a lot of the voting precincts aren't ready.

Davis is a lying peice of s**t, it WONT cost us california 65 million to get his ass out  it will cost us about 30 million. besides a governor manages billions of dollars a year for the state, 30 million to get Davis out is a bargain.

While Arnold doesnt have the experience of Bustamonte, that isnt a bad thing. Arnold is a businessman, he has dabbled a little in politics and he's an Austrian American immigrent living the american dream.

Even though hes an actor he is still a normal guy, And I'd rather have anormal guy who knows a little about politics and has his own business as a Governor than some skinny pale p***y who lies to our faces and steals from our wallets, or his liutenant governor who helps him lie to us.

I hear that Arnold has about 25% according to a poll...Bustamonte has 15%.  Flynt and Huffington have about 4% each.

They don't expect the winner to have a majority of the vote, just a plurality.   I expect another Florida 2000 situation though, because I hear a lot of the voting precincts haven't gotten updated equipment so we may well be hearing about dangling chads again before this is over.

Of course, this is assuming the voters approve the recall, but the news report I heard said Davis' approval rating has dropped from the 20% or so it was earlier.  I think the Bustamonte supporters will probably be the key to Davis being recalled--I have a feeling quite a few will vote for the recall even though Bustamonte is supposedly telling people to vote against it, but to vote for him just in case the recall passes.

We never have anything exciting like this here....all we had last year was a vote to ban cockfighting and people running around the mall in chicken suits.
