I cannot replicate this problem.  Damn, damn, damn.  The "New" tag is controlled by a cookie stored on your computer.  Maybe deleting the old cookies for the phorum would fix the issue for you.  If you do not want to clear all your cookies, just look for the ones for www.badmovies.org.   It appears there are 4 of them.  It might be an issue of your computer not trusting the new server to modify that cookie.

If that does not work, can you let me know your config?  The version of Windows you are using and the browser (including version)?  I have tried it with Win98 SE and Win2000, running IE 5.5Sp2 and 6.0Sp2 and, my favorite browser, Mozilla 1.4.

My problem seemed to be cleared up days ago.

Now I see others are having an altogether different problem than what I was having.

It was working ok until a few days ago. While Ash was having problems, things seemed normal for me. Maybe it was caused by whatever changes you made to fix Ash's problem.

I'm using Windows 98 with IE5.01 SP2.

Once I finish reading all the messages, I'll try deleting the cookies and then mark everything as read.

Ok, I forgot to delete the cookies, however I did reload the page right after I finished reading all the messages and the NEW tag was gone on all the posts. Now it's back.... :(

I have tried multiple variations on a few computers to replicate this and no dice.  Again, the only way I can proceed is if you let me know your operating system (Win 98, Win 2000, Win XP, etc) and the browser (IE 5.5sp2, Mozilla 1.4, etc) you are using.

I have tried the board with:
Win 98 SE, Win 2000, Win 95
IE 5.5sp2, IE 6.0sp1, Mozilla 1.3 and Mozilla 1.4

The yellow "new" never goes away on my screen. Is there something that can be done about it?

After about 2 hours of playing around, I was able to replicate this problem in the following way:

By going to "badmovies.org/bbs/list.php?f=2" instead of "www.badmovies.org/bbs/list.php?f=2" I seem to have gotten the same problem.  In fact, it caused me a couple of weird problems with what the computer thought I had or had not read.

If you are using a shortcut or favorite bookmark, please make sure it points to "www.badmovies.org/bbs/list.php?f=2" since this is the correct URL.  If one of my links is sending you to the wrong place, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if using IE, please delete your cookies a couple of times.  I had one or two times when IE was just seeming to hang onto the cookies.  I finally deleted them all, closed IE, opened IE, deleted them all, closed IE, opened IE and was good.

So, for my best suggestion:
Make sure any bookmark or favorite points to "www.badmovies.org/bbs/list.php?f=2" (minus the quotes of course)
Log out of the phorum (if logged in)
Make sure your browser is not blocking cookies from www.badmovies.org
Delete cookies
Close Browser
Open Browser
Delete Cookies
Close Browser
Open Browser and go to "www.badmovies.org/bbs/list.php?f=2"
Log in if you have a profile

Hopefully this fixes things

I remembered to delete the cookies last time and now it seems to be working ok.

For the record, my IE5.01 bookmark has always pointed to www.badmovies.org and then I click the link for the board. I do this so that I can see when new reviews have been posted.
