This is a fun little film that I really like.  Price and Lorre are excellent, plus you have Karloff as the doddering old father.  I really like Price's character.  He does not generate the same aura as he did in "The Abominable Dr. Phibes," but he is a lovable scamp.

The other film on the DVD (one of MGM's double feature discs) is "The Raven."  Would you believe it took me a while to recognize Jack Nicholson as Peter Lorre's son?

I liked both movies, but The Raven is by far my favorite.  Terrible adaptation of Poe, but extremely funny.  Especially Lorre.

I remember watching the Raven with my dad's Super 8 movie projector in the late seventies...no sound, and all of the dialog was subtitled across the bottom.

That's terrible.  Half the fun is listening to Price and Lorre.

(Of course, Jack's acting would improve immeasurable that way...)

I know...I think that one of the things that made Vincent Price such a gifted actor was that he could pull off some of the most ridiculous dialogue and make it work. Same goes for actors like Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

Total agreement here.  I don't think Cushing or Lee took the same kind of enjoyment Price did in some of the lines they had to say, but they were all in a class above.  It's too bad they were in so many second rate movies, though.

Not only Price, Lorre, and Karloff, but also Rathbone as their landlord. The only theim those four would appear in the same film together. Throw in Joe. E. Brown, he of the big mouth, as the gravedigger, and you have five good reasons to see this film.

Are you kidding? You couldn't figure out that was Jack?

Hope you enjoyed the "Promotional Record" audio recording on the RAVEN side of the disc.....I contributed that to MGM for the RAVEN dvd as well as the first five photos in the accompanying stills....and MGM never gave me credit for it. Pics below are the ones used out of the scans I sent in.

RAVEN is one of my faves, but I think COMEDY OF TERRORS actually has more out-loud bellylaughs.
