I first saw this movie several years before I saw The Matrix, and even though I liked it then, after recently seeing it again on tv I truly now appreciate it.In many ways I find this movie a even more frightning vision of are future. While in The Matrix the humans prove to have a use to the machines, to power them, in Colossus the computers have little need for humanity, and only let them live for the purpous to control them. The computers state many times in the movie that it is willing to destroy as many people as it takes to control man.In the Matrix the people could live blissful lives unaware of there true existance, while in Colossus humanity knows that they are to be ensalved and controled by the computers.
The computers in Colossus also seem to be far colder and crule than the ones in The Matrix.

I had this on VHS but I sold it. It's imazing how "primitive" the computer system looks. Back when the movie was released, audiences must have thought it was very futuristic-looking and amazing.

Primitive, yes, but the mountain full of massive computer equipment, with its lights and noises, looks so much more impressive than it would if it were based on today's technology. I think the size and power of Colossus makes it more intimidating.

The one thing in this movie I always get a kick out of is seeing the president of the United States played by Newfie actor Gordon Pinsent, a man who is about as Canadian as you can get.

I caught a glimpse of this a couple years ago and have been waiting for it to come on tv again.
