THE REPTILE (1966) - This film just played on TCM tonight. It's a Hammer film shot on the same sets as PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES and directed by the same director during the same year. The movie isn't that great, but it has it's moments. You will recongnize the cemetary and village if you have already seen PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES.  TCM is playing both films tonight.

I just saw it tonight. Not bad, although it had a real pacing problem (it dragged in the middle)...it should have had more explanation about the snake people instead of just a three-second tirade at the end of the film to tie it all together.

The best part in the movie is when someone would get bit. They would turn greenish black then foam at the mouth then die. All within a few moments. Also when the hero gets bit in the neck and ask his wife to cut the poison part out. She gets out a knife. How do you cut flesh from the neck with all those veins in the same location. How about that crazy guy who gets bit. He had some wacky dialogue, but it didn't come real strong. Worth taking a look for real horror fans.

I have seen it, though, unfortunately, I don't remember much about it, except I remembered that I liked it. It makes a nice triple bill along with "Plague of the Zombies," which uses many of the same actors and same locations, and "Lair of the White Worm," as it is believed, Ken Russell, the director of "LOTWW," took the snake dance from that film, from the snake dance in "The Reptile."
