Well, I just seen PLANET OF THE APES last night. Its not bad and with a surprise twist at the end that you will like. Watching this film you actually will really dislike the ape leader. As in many recent films the scenes are visually dark, for example in this movie alot of dark jungle scenes. This turns me off because I like movies that are visually bright. There are a couple memorable characters in Planet of the Apes and the film is different in some ways than the original. *** out of *****

Another film I seen at the theater recently was A.I. (Artificial Inteligence). This film has a blend of many different movies. With the look of BLADE RUNNER and a PINOCHIO type theme. It was good while watching it, but looking back at it a week later I don't have great feelings for the movie. The film also has a rather creepy atmosphere to it. Its worth viewing. *** out of *****.

Unfortunately I will wait till video to see the movie THE SCORE. It sounds good and could be Marlon Brando's last film.

Here are some upcoming movie that I would like to see. Judging from the previews I would like to see:

THE GHOST OF MARS
MOTHMAN PROPHECIES
THE TIME MACHINE
HARRY POTTER
LORD OF THE RINGS

My Recent movie rentals were good. I just found a small video store that is under new management and has a whole Vincent Price collection on their shelves.

THE MASK OF THE RED DEATH is a very well made film from the 60's starring Vincent Price and directed by ROGER CORMAN. The film has some really dark medievil philosophies and Vincent Price plays the part of a Prince real well. The story come from Edgar Allen Poe. **** out of *****.

THE OBLONG BOX is another Edgar Allen Poe story starring Vincent Price.  If you consider the story it is interesting, but it comes off slow and lacks entertainment value. I always loved the title and poster for this film in the past. If your a fan of Poe or Price I suppose you could see this film. ** out of *****

ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEACHES was a fun movie made in the 50's. Two people in human size leach outfits.  The scenes in the cave are just two much and these scenes are must see's or any fan of B-Movies. Vette Vickers is in this that has suffered much in quality over the years. Scratchy but definately worth watching. *** out ot *****

This new video store I found has many neat titles and will be renting them a each for $1 for two nights. What a bargain !!!! Here is a short list of the films they have that I have yet to see:

The Pit and the Pendulum
The Fall of the House of Usher
Ssssss
Scream and Scream Again
Dracula (another Christipher Lee film that I haven't seen, can't remember the title. I thought I have seen them all.)

Can anyone name all the titles of all the Christipher Lee DRACULA movies that he has made?

I went on vacation in early July and I didn't get to see a movie in a DRIVE-IN like I planned to at the CHARCOAL CORRAL near Silver Lake New York. Do a search for the website. It looks like a great place.

I did go on a GHOST TOUR in Strasburg, PA. If you want to see a ghost tour  here there are some in New Orleans, Key West, Williamsburg VA, Niagria Falls, Gettysburg PA, Philadelphia PA, Cape May NJ. I'm sure there are more around the country.

If you are in the Atlantic City area go to the TROPICANA HOTEL and CASINO to see the TORTURE exhibit. You won't be disappointed. They have 100 different torture devices thru the centries mostly 500 years old with full discriptions and large illistrations on how the devices were used while erie music plays through out the exhibit. TORTURE will be at the Tropicana till September.

Has anyone caught the new reality show calle FEAR FACTOR on Monday nights and 8pm Eastern time. Its a good show if you like that sort of stuff. They had to jump off tall buidings, eat sheep eyes, and hold their breath underwater while being hung upside down by their ankles. The winner of the contest gets 50,000 dollars.

Though I've missed the latest TOUGH ENOUGH episodes. I'm sure its been good. Has anyone seen the whole thing? Its a show were a group of hopeful people train to be a WWF wrestler and only one will make it as the others are eliminated weekly.

Reality TV shows have been some of my favorite TV viewings since survivor, but I can remember an even older one called CANDID CAMERA, the only difference is that today they know they are on camera sometimes and the motivation is different. Looking forward to seeing SPY TV and the return of FEAR on MTV later this year.

In the world of Pro Wrestling the WWF finally had that WCW invasion and with the surprise of an ECW invasion angle made  for some interesting TV the past couple weeks. For Wrestling fans this is a big event in the history of wrestling. Basically in reality Vince McManhan bought out the compitition and is using it as an angle.

Kevin James was hilarious on the COMEDY CHANNEL as they showed his one hour stand up routine. James is the star of KING OF QUEENS tv show.

Here are my picks of Movies from the Badmovies.org TV Listing page:

Ssssssss - (I've never seen this one, guess I can save a dollar at the video store)
The Terror  - (fun movie I bought an EP copy a few years ago for $2, Boris Karloff and Jack Nickolson. A Roger Corman film from the 60's)
The Blob - (Early Steve McQueen in this classic film with groovy music at the beginning)
Forbidden Planet - (This movie grows on you)
Rocky III (the Rocky vs Thunderlips scene is great movie making)

I've seen most of the films listed and enjoyed most of them. One of my favorites is "The Terror" w/ Boris Karloff and Jack Nicholson and directed by Roger Corman. Corman was always known as being a fast worker, but, he supposedly shot this film in only
three days, which must be a record, even for Corman. I would also
like to suggest, that before seeing "The Time Machine," watch the original version w/ Rod Taylor, Alan Young, Yvette Mimieux, Sebastian Cabot, and Whit Bissell, and w/ the voice of Paul Frees, as the Talking Rings, and directed by the late George Pal.
One of the greatest science fiction films of all time. (IMO) Enjoy

Apparently, "The Terror" was shot on sets left over from Corman's The Raven, and because Boris Karloff still had 3 days of his contract to run, Corman thought he might as well make old Boris earn every last cent.

Three slimes is about right for AI.  I hated
it when I first saw it, but the movie does
kinda... grow on you.  That, and one very
vocal supporter of it, caused me to
re-examine my views a little.

Planet of the Apes just looks bad.  I wasn't
the biggest fan of it the first time, & I'm
sure I won't be now.  I dunno, maybe summer
movies just aren't my thang...

Curiously enough, both THE TERROR and THE TIME MACHINE are playing commercial free on cable this week.

THE TERROR plays Friday night (august 3) on AMC at 12 am ET 9 PT

THE TIME MACHINE plays Saturday afternoon on TCM at 6 pm ET 3 PT

and I agree that TTM is one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time
