I know where my towel is.

This one seems to be a highly adapted Japanese myth, as told by Toho.  The effects are much what we had come to expect from the 3 newer "Mothra" films, with lots of glitter and shiny stuff.  The characters fail to be memorable and I had no love at all for the protagonist.  Every time he was in danger of losing, that darn Gamera pendant would make his eyes glow green and shoot rays.

The plot is laid down when twins are born to the Emperor of Yamato.  One is marked for death, but is carried away by the white bird of heaven (which is a robot, Lou as "Hercules" came to mind in mixing robots and mythology).  A priestess raises the young boy.  He also discovers an ancient cave.  Inside, a Keeper of Secrets tells him that someday they will meet again and that he will become a warrior for the gods after coming to possess 3 lights.

Then we get into him going to a neighboring barbarian kingdom and assassinating their ruler, though he takes the ruler's last name as a mark of respect.  He also meets a girl who is destined to become a part of him.

Does all of this sound really contrived and slapped together?  It should...

The eight-headed dragon?  It finally appears in the last 8 minutes of the movie.

Someday, but that could be a long time.  To review all of the movies in my collection right now would take me about 30 years (doing 1 per week).  Talk about a reason to live.
