I don't know why I keep going to FOX's over hyped summer movies. Last year it was X-Men, which basically was an hour and a half commercial for X-Men 2. This year it was Planet of the Apes. Maybe its just me, but it didn't really feel like a Tim Burton movie. Hell, his Planet of the Apes didn't even seem to hit the level of the orignal Planet. The only redeeming part is the ending, which has caused me to garner more intrest in the possible sequel then in this one.

I thought Planet of the Apes was ok. I agree it doesn't feel like a Tim Burton film. I think most people will agree here, Tim Burton's Scenery is amazing for the most part but this movie seemed to be missing the interesting scenery. The end I disliked cause well it really didn't make sense at all or maybe I'm just thinking too much into it. Anyway, This movies ok if u don't think of it as a remake. Here's what I think.

Most movies that are remakes are like Cover songs, same lyrics with a different beat (same story with some changes)

but some movies that are remakes are more like sampling a song (like POTA) where Tim to a piece of something old and mixed a whole new thing around it.

What happend to Tim Burton. Everything he does is pretty much a remake. Batman was based off of the comics. Sleepy Hollow was based off of Icabob Crane. Planet of the Apes is a remake. Mars Attacks was based off of some bubble gum cards. Pee Wee's Big Adventure was based on Paul Reubans HBO special. The Nightmare Before Christmas was inspired by Mad Monster Party. Edward Scissorhands was loosely based on Frankenstien. The same could be said of Frankenweenie. Don't get me wrong. I love most of Tim Burton's work. But it's been a long time since Tim Burton has made a film that he has put his hands into without trying to please critics and Hollywood.

I TOTALLY agree that Burton sold out! Anyone who knows anything about horror films will be aware that "Sleepy Hallow" was a COMPLETE rip off of the Hammer films.  Personally, I think Burton's best work was the short film "Vincent."

If you want to see the best horror film of the year, see Chad Ferrin's "UNSPEAKABLE," a psychologically gory flick that is truly horrifying and disturbing!  SEE IT NOW!

I think it only made like 2 Mill in the box office, the studio was p**sed off that he demanded it be in black and white. I think its his best, but then again I'm an Ed Wood fan.
