This is my first viewing of these three films. They all have one thing in common that they all have Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff in them.

The Raven (1935) - Good film with of course Edgar Allen Poe moments. Bela Lugosi at his best. Boris Karloff might have more faces than Lon Chaney ever had. Lugosi has the better role here.

The Black Cat (1934) - Another good production with similiar romantic situation as The Raven. Some good scenes here. Karloff plays a cultist in stylish outfits and mansion. Keeps bodies suspended in the basement.

The Body Snatcher (1945) - I'm watching this one as I write. It's almost done. Great cinematography and good dialogue about the body, mind, and soul. Grave diggers for medical research. Karloff is very good. Lugosi has the lesser role here.
Great ending with Karloff's voice and corpse haunting the Doctor while riding through the rain in a carriage.

These are 16 Bela Lugosi films that I've seen.

Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)
Bride of the Monster (55)
Glen or Glenda (53)
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (48)
The Body Snatcher (45)
Ghost on the Loose (43)
The Ape Man (43)
Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman (43)
The Devil Bat (40)
Son of Frankenstein (39)
The Raven (35)
The Black Cat (34)
Island of Lost Souls (32)
White Zombie (32)
Dracula (31)

These are the 14 Boris Karloff films that I've seen.

The Crimson Cult (68)
Black Sabbath (63)
The Terror (63)
The Raven (63)
Frankenstein - 1970 (58)
Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde (53)
Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer (49)
The Body Snatcher (45)
House of Frankenstein (44)
Son of Frankenstein (39)
The Walking Dead (36)
The Mummy (32)
The Black Cat (34)
Frankenstein (31)

Well, after these three movies TCM showed clips of all Lon Chaney silent films and faces. After seeing this short on Chaney I take back my comment about Karloff having as many faces.

TCM is really showing some good films lately.
