Just thinking about favorite movie scenes or maybe just a movie image. what are your favorites of all time? It's almost like picking a favorite movie. Hard to do I suppose. I think that a movie that can put together 3 or 4 great scenes with a topic and  characters that interest people could make for a good movie. You might also need a bit of money and good actors to help.

The opening credit montage of Metropolis (the Fritz Lang one, not the anime one) rules.
Father MacGruder kicking ass for the lord.
Any given monster battle from Gamera 3 or GMK.  I still get that geek orgasm every time I watch either of them.
Optimus Prime wasting every Decepticon in sight in the opening battle of Transformers: The Movie.
Ash vs. his hand in Evil Dead 2.
Crap, this list could go on forever, I better leave a few for everyone else.

To me some of the most memorable scenes to films are their intro, a great intro always sets the mood and the ambience to a film real well. A couple that always move me are the intro scene to Raging Bull. the cinematography is so excellently done by Michael Chapman as DeNiro (playing Lamotta) shadowboxes in slow motion in the ring. His face is concealed in darkness (a man who ran from his demons and expressed them in boxing perhaps), and the music is absolutely moving. Another would have to be the intro scene to Mean Streets, the old family films of the New York hoods being played to the oldie tune "be my baby" is absolutely stunning. And call me sadistic but the scene in Cat's Eye where the wife gets her share of voltage always gets me so sexually stimulated!!!

Some of my favorite scenes are:

* THE FRENCH CONNECTION - The scene where Popeye Doyle is standing in front of a restaurant on a freezing cold day, while the suspect he is trailing is inside eating an elegant meal.

* NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - The scene where the lights go out in the house, plunging everyone into darkness.

* INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (original) - The close-up of Becky opening her eyes after she has been "body snatched," and the look on Miles Bennell's face when he realizes she is no longer human.

* LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT - Immediately following the murders, when the killers wash the blood off themselves.

* THE WAGES OF FEAR - The scene where the truck loaded with nitroglycerine backs up close to the edge of a cliff in order to make a sharp turn.

* THE HUSTLER - The scene where Jackie Gleason washes up and combs his hair after a long night of shooting pool (and losing), only to emerge refreshed and embark on a winning streak.
