There are two new Amityville movies heading our way.  As I hated the first Amityville as if it had killed my entire family, this news doesn't please me very much.

At least, not right now.

Give me a couple weeks, and I'm sure to start thinking, hey!  These might be good!  It could happen!

I'm very, very stupid that way.

EDIT - The other Amityville mentioned in the article is being produced by Michael Bay.  It's going to be more faithful to the Anson book

Now does this mean the "rescue the dog" ending is out?  Or was that in the book?

Damn it!  Now I am getting intrested.  Too quick, far as I'm concerned...

I take it as a point of perverse pride that I've seen every AMITYVILLE movie.  (I've also seen all the CHILDREN OF THE CORNs, but that's a worse story.)

The original is by far the most boring of the bunch.  The worst is THE AMITYVILLE CURSE, which is only set in Amityville and has nothing to do with the original story.  My favorite is AMITYVILLE 3-D, which I hope to one day see in 3-D.

Note: I'm not saying these movies are good or that you should go watch them.  In fact, just stay away.  You'll feel better about yourself.

I'd actually prefer a new AMITYVILLE sequel over a remake of the original story.  Part of the only fun you can get from an AMITYVILLE movies is seeing which increasingly ridiculous way they get the story to relate to the original.  We've had the evil escape in a lamp, a clock, a mirror (I think) and we've had it remanifest itself as a dollhouse, inexplicably.  What next?  Some new house shares a metaphysical closet space with original, thus giving rise to closet monsters?  Heck, add some homosexual subtext and you've got a movie right there.  (Not a good movie though.)

But a big budget remake?  I forsee a plodding mess.  I can only condone it if they get Margot Kidder to reprise her role.

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.
