ID this movie with video game scene...

Ok, I know this is a long shot, but maybe someone will recognize it. Here's what I remember;

I believe it was a mid-80's horror movie with some killer stalking people in a housing complex. Actually, I'm not really sure what to call the place, it seemed like there were a lot of ground-floor apartments in the same building, each with a sliding glass door into the courtyard, maybe a laundry room too. Anyway, in one part of the movie, two couples are in one apartment placing a video game. It was some kind of racing game, although at the time, I thought it looked slightly too advanced to be a home system. I seem to recall that it was a mostly B/W display showing a 3D view and they were driving along a mountain road with a cliff on one side, then they went through a tunnel that kind of looked more like a tall archway with a pointed top. I think after a while, they stopped playing to go look for someone, or maybe they heard a noise and went to investigate.

I know it's not much to go on, but does this ring any bells?
