So I finally found a copy of Open Range(they've been sold out and hard to find here). I enjoyed it very much, good ole' fashioned western. The costumes and period detail were right on and the gunfight at the end was fantastic.

My only nitpick is that in the gunfight at the end when Costner is fanning his gun at the badguy who shot Duvall. He fires at least 10 rounds! I know that's a standard gripe about movie gunplay, but as you all know, I won't let originality stand in the way of a good b***h. Furthermore, the fella he apparently fires these 10 rounds into, shows up later as the wounded guy they convince him to spare. Didn't detract from the movie at all, but I nitpick for the same reason we all do. It makes me feel good and slightly superior to point out the small mistakes others have made. Woo hoo!!  Anyway, I rate Open Range very highly.

Oh yeah, one more b***h about westerns in general. Why do the non-American bad guys always have to be Irish? Open Range, Young Guns, and more...always a villainous Hibernian. As an O'Meara...you know,  of the Oklahoma City O'Mearas......I find this all together distasteful.

Deej:

It's amazing how the villains are usually Irish in westerns, and usually Italian in big  city crime movies.

I'd like to see a movie where the criminal are from Lichtenstein.

Exactly...and how 'bout those Belgians? Is it just me or do they seem kinda shifty just sitting there, doing nothing, saying nothing, making sure noone can find them on a map. The perfect villainous type!
