This is an offshoot of my comment in the recent "flame wars" thread.

What slang terms can you think of that give you a good idea of how old someone is?  For example:

"That movie ROCKS!"

"That movie is GAY."

Or, for the slightly older contributors to this forum:

"That movie is far out, man."

This topic is the bees' knees!  It's hip, daddy-o.  Really groovy.

I know this post is really L7  (square that is)  But when the fingers go a typin', I just can't help myself!

Of course, none of that reveals how old, how truely

Cool, Cullen.  I mean, your comments are solid, Jackson!  I think you make some groovy points.  Peace, man.

Rad.

Oh wait, I think that was the name of a cheezy stunt biker movie in the 80's.

My wife and I still use "gay"  to describe stuff we don't like.  We don't hate gay people, we just like how the word sounds.  BTW, we're both in our thirties.

I can't stand the word gay.
I only used it repeatedly in the "Is George Lucas Gay" thread to add more posts to it to break 100.
That was pretty funny too!

Even worse is the more recently coined term "owned".
I want to b***h slap anyone that says that to me especially when I'm gaming online where it is much more prevelant.
When I was an admin on TFC (Team Fortress Classic/Half Life) before the server was permanently taken down and I saw somebody type that word....instant ban!
Not a kick...but a ban from the server forever.
That's how much I hate it.
I would tell them why they were being banned before I did it.
Only property & slaves can be "owned" and I am neither.

And I totally agree with Burgo...anytime I hear a person use the word "gay" or "owned" I instantly think of a juvenile delinquent.

I was about to make a post about that movie.  I use that word all the time, though.

How about

"That Movies was like gag me with a spoon and like gross me out the door."

of course the Valley girl talk is making a come back.  Like in the movie Clueless.  Isn't that sorta how they talk?

I say "word" all the time.  But that's only because I'm really lazy and you can pretty much use it as a catch all phrase for anything.  I stopped saying "Hooah" when I got out of the Army, but I guess you can't count that as cross-generational slang.

Oh, c'mon.  What's wrong with 'owned'?

I am better than you. Therefore, I own you.

At least, that's how it should be.

NIGHTS you just made my point for me.

I sincerely hope you do not believe that.

And Burgo, did you intentionally write the title of this thread incorrectly?

There is one word I can not stand and that is "Whatever".   When you ask a person a question and get that kind of reply it just really bothers me.  It's as bad as saying I don't care.  I work in a place of business where you are doing cash advances on credit cards and these people are so desperate for money they allow a 7.99 fee to be charge to their credit card on top of the 20 dollars they wanted to get plus what ever the bank decides to charge them.  We are not talking about very intelligent people.  I had one lady that actually keep saying "I don't care" and acted like she was in such a big rush.  When she couldn't get the money she was trying to get I was thinking you know what "I don't care either"
