Who is going to see Hellboy ?

I've never read the comic, but seeing as this stars Ron Perlman I'm in. Director Guillermo Del Toro actually took a $20 million dollar budget cut  from the  producers because he wanted Perlman to do the part and not some pretty boy actor. If he believed in it that much I think it's worth a view.

The comics rule, the movie is going to rule, there are Dimmu Borgir songs in the trailer,  I'm going to see it a whole bunch of times and no one is going to stop me.

Definately seeing Hellboy.
It's the first comic adaptation that looks interesting and promising since Tank Girl.

Spiderman, X-men or Hulk were not bad or poorly made, but they just had too much of a hollywood feel to them. Movies for the masses are just not my gig. They taste overly processed and synthetic.

It's rare I miss a comic book movie. So I will probably be seeing this one as well. Looks like it be pretty good.

If I have time I'll give it a try. Wasn't the comic book created by one of the people who made the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" comic book? I swear I read that somewhere.

Guillermo del Toro is a fantastic director.  He can direct something stunningly sad and meaningful like The Devil's Backbone, then turn around and make a goofy, entertaining action movie like Blade II.  I've rarely seen such versatility.  I love the Hellboy comics, and I'm a huge fan of Perlman.  It looks as if everything that could possibly have gone right here has done so.  I can't wait for this one.

Nope, Mike Mignola created Hellboy.  Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill created The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Nope, HellBoy #1 was Created/Drawn By Mike Mignola and Written by Mignola and John Byrne (who was a more seasoned writer) . At The time it was "hot" for creator owned Comics. DC/Marvel own the copywrites to their heroes. So Dark Horse Comics opened their Line of Creator Owned comics, John Byrne, Frank Miller, Art Adams, and Mike Mignola released comics via Dark Horse under the "legend" imprint. I think Hellboy #1 was maybe '92 or '93

Mignola also did design work on Disney's animated Atlantis movie.

League of EXG was written By Allen Moore, an englishmen, who wrote probably the best limited series ever "Watchmen". It's a Recent, maybe 2000, comic, but  Moore's been writing for years. LXG comes out via DC under the "America's Best  Comic " Imprint.

And if anyone is interested, They've Rereleased a Short Story called "The Corpse" out in the comic stores for only .25cents.

Eventhough I have never read the comic that the film is based on, I'm still psyched about seeing this film.  It looks like it's going to be cheesy and fun, eventhough I hate CGI.

I'll be there opening weekend.

I bought all the Hellboy comics and like them big time.  Big Time.  BIG TIME!!!  To prevent me seeing the movie - well, it just isn't going to happen.  

FYI - Alan Moore did indeed write "Watchmen" - a superb comic book that truly deserves the title Graphic Novel - and it was drawn by the equally talented but probably not quite as dope-smoking Dave Gibbons.  Both writer and artists sharpened their teeth on the British comic 2000AD.  Back when 2000 AD was a long way into the future!

Dumb question time: Is "Hellboy" some kind of sarcastic nickname for the character? Usually when a character is named 'boy, like Superboy, it's because they're young. The character of Hellboy, even in the few panels from the comic that I've seen, appears to be an adult.

The Nazi's tried to summon up a hell spawn to help them win WWII and he ended up being a baby demon. I guess it has something to do with him living so long that he may look grown up but  mentally he is a wise cracking  16 year old.

Hmm. I thought I saw a list somewhere where below the name Kevin O'Neill was a list of comics he had worked and I thought I saw Hellboy. Oh well, we all make  mistakes once in a while.
