My favorite part of "Deathrace 2000" is when we get to listen to someone give a quick inacurate history lesson... when we're told about "the great car pileup of 1999" and so on...

My question is, what's the worst dated event in a movie?

What movie mentions 'the World War 3 of 1998' or the 'Apocalyptic devistation of 1999'?
List anything you can think of...

PRINCE OF DARKNESS

There's a running dream through the whole movie that turns out to be transmissions from the future.  It's a nice, spooky idea that ties the whole movie together.  Unfortunately it is being transmitted from the year 1999.

Escape from New York is set in 1997.

World War Three breaks out in 1997, according to the first TERMINATOR movie.

The "big one" that separates California from the rest of the United States occurs in ESCAPE FROM L.A.....

Or, to be more accurate, the "big one" is noted as having already occured during the opening minutes of ESCAPE FROM L.A.

Caesar and his army of apes took over in the early 90s as I recall.

And I think Khan Noonian Singh and his genetic supermen escaped into space in 1996, after having ruled a considerable chunk of the globe for a time.

I also note Just Imagine (1930), which shows us the wonders of 1980, wherein serial codes have replaced surnames and vending machins have replaced copulation.  (Long story...)

Don't forget 2001: A Space Odyssey, where not only is space travel relatively common but also Pan Am Airlines still exists and everybody still has those goofy Beaver Cleaver haircuts.

Still a great film though.

Terminator was alreadly mentioned but that's the first thing that came to my mind. Terminator 2 shows how people are almost entirely whipped out in August 1999 and then a war between the corporation's machines and humans continues for decades.

One for tv, the setting for Dark Angel seem to be in well past 2000, but dialogue (especially between Original Cindy and Max) seem to be of this year

Citizen Flangepart! Stop what you are doing right now. Yes, you. You are guilty of thinking bad and sarcastic thoughts about perfectly fine motion pictures - you are hereby banished to a "respectable" site for a term yet to be decided.
