today  i was reading "120 days of sodom" a  "de sade marquis" book,  about to finish the book,but i havent been able to finish it, its too cruel,too violent,i dont care too much about moral ethic and all this stuff, but i can say that this book it doesnt have any of this things at all. and i really mean it, much more graphic than a film, if u have stomach enough i challenge u to read it.

The book was actually made into a movie (sort of). It's called "Salo." It's an updated version of the Marquis' text, taking place sometime during WW2. Good luck getting a copy of it, though. It's extremely rare and expensive.

As for the book itself, I wasn't much interested in trying to read it. I did however pick up a copy of "Juliette." It was way over my head. The material is dated and very hard to read.

BTW, if you like the Marquis De Sade and are interested in watching a (somewhat fictional) account of his life, watch the movie "Quills." It's very, very good- one of my favorites.

yes i think its a great film too,the acting its just great. and i have a copy o salo, i love pasolini films i know it can b really odd.
i was freak out about th book, its just that i havent read in my life something like that, well, almost, because i havent finished the book.

I heard about one couple who though it would be kinky to read it together and it ended up killing their sex life...they were just too creeped out and repulsed.  I've never read it, though I have seen the Pasolini film.

It's the worst type of porn. I mean, it didn't do anything for me, and it is boring in the extreme. Sade's life on the other hand is worth reading about. An interesting man living in an interesting time from 1740-1814 or from the time of Louis XV through the downfall of the French monarchy under Louis XVI, the French Revolution, and the rise and fall of Napoleon I. He even spent sometime in the infamous Bastille.

well, i think he its not a really brilliant writer, he  just loved to make a fuss with everything he wrote, or just to tell some truths that noone dared to tell in that century.
boring?? i just found it horrible, not because it was a bad book, its just the way he descrived all this aberrations, in that cold and almost cientific way, so i found this book everything but boring, even as i said before i havent been able to finish the reading.
yes i agree, he was a very interesting man, and he had a great fun writing this kind of novels he knew everybody would be scandalized, and its funny that  nowadays he can make u feel this same way, even things now are very differents.
