My thing is, why are we waiting till like 2007 before we can see spiderman 3?

I'll try to dig up more movies coming out next year, hopefully i can find SOME worth seeing! Oh and btw dean, re: house of wax comment, as paris would say  about the set burning up....

that's hot

Anyone wanna take bets tho on whether or not king kong will be the monster movie that kills americas love affair with Peter jackson? Sincerely!

Also, i'm wary of Logan's Run. I own this movie, I love this movie because I love cheesy 70's sci-fi movies. I'm afraid they're going to overpump this film with sci-fi effects that will distract from the nature of the story. Hollywood just always seems to trash remakes. Which is why I'm the "ye" in the saying "oh ye of little faith".

And because i've reached carosel, my light is red and any moment now i expect to be whirled up before a crowd and lasered. ;-)

Why do you think this movie will fail?
On what basis do you believe that to be true?

Btw add to that list
* DIE HARD IV
* THE POSEIDAN ADVENTURE
* WAR OF THE WORLDS..altho i think this has been pushed to 2006..same with X-FILES 2 (it's hard to find really up to date info on movies status)

People don't like monkey movies anymore? ;-)
Plus it's the curse of the big movie. After Schindlers List, the very peak of his career he follows up with Jurassic Park 2. Tarrantino was put on the map by Pulp Fiction but after Jackie Brown it took him a few years to recover. LOTR is huge, i don't know if jackson has the kahonas to pull it off. Maybe it's me. We'll see!

Susan, Peter Jackson also has "Meet the Feebles", "Bad Taste", "Forgotten Silver", and the classic "Dead Alive/Braindead" under his belt before LOTR and the films you mentioned. So he has great horror/b-movie creds, but since the mainstream has embraced him these films seem to get ignored. Even the lousy film critic/entertainment editor in my local newspaper, who gushes about Jackson quite often has never mentioned any of these films in all the reviews and articles he has done. Yet the moron considers himself a genre fan.

I'm always wary of remakes of classics though, so I have a "wait and see" as to whether Jackson can pull off remaking a classic that has already been remade quite badly once. I'm sure Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange are glad people aren't mentioning the 1976 version when they talk about the upcoming one, but I saw that turkey too many times as a kid to forget it.

"Die Hard IV" - where would they set it? A cruise ship? A high speed train? A jet liner? These have all been done by other films, and not well mostly. Maybe John Mclane can save the Mall of America from terrorists.

"The Poseidon Adventure" - it's a shame how few people remember how lame the first one was. I hate Irwin Allen movies anyway, so remakes of lame disaster movies really don't hold any interest for me.

Susan,

Glad to see that you listed "Die Hardest".  I can't wait for that film to be made.  Just imagine an 'elderly' Bruce Willis running around trying to be tough.  That'll be fun times to be had by all.

Kidding aside, I really am looking forward to it.  It seems that John McTiernan has signed on to direct the last installment.  He did a great job with the original and kicked some ass with the third one.  Can't imagine anyone else who would be better to take the films to their end.

From what I've read though, the script will not be a Die Hard script.  They are hoping to adapt a script that was written for something completely different, as they did with Die Hard 3.  Oh well.  Whatever.  I'll be there opening weekend.

Yaddo - As for places that this film could take place:

Well, it looks like I'll save some money on movie tickets come to 2005. Of the three dozen films mentioned, the only ones I'm interested in seeing at this time are . . .

"Pirates of the Caribbean 2," if only because I liked the first one so much.

James Bond 21. I, too, am a completist, having seen all the others. It' d be interesting if 21 is a remake of "Casino Royale." And they have a new Bond. It is some Australian actor, who's name I've forgotten.

"Santa Clause 3," if only because I'd watch Tim Allen in almost anything. And while I presume the sequel was not the box office earner of the the first film, it probably made enough money to generate a second sequel.

"House of Wax," if only because I saw the first two. Of course, w/ Paris Hilton in it, my chances of seeing it just went down.

"The Brother's Grimm." Maybe. If it is set in the 19th century.  Otherwise, not. (IMHO) Those films work better, for the most part, if set in the past.

And let us not forget . . . these possible sequels in 2005 or 2006.

"American Pie 4"

"Blade; Trinity"

"Austin Powers 4"

"MI: 3"

"Herbie: Fully Loaded"

"Hellboy 2"

And these remakes for 2005 or 2006.

"Flash Gordon"

"The Graduate"

Thanks for the update...looking forward to avoiding quite a few, but there are some I am definately interested in.

Not listed in any particular order is some I will definately see on the big screen:
THE CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (very curious)
FAHRENHEIT 451 (loved the book...just hope the cast will be good with a promising director)
THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (I know, I know, but don't hate me for actually liking the original! :)
THE CAVE (Now are they REALLY monsters, or a bunch of cast aways in costumes from the 19th century???)
MISS CONGENIALITY 2 (did you honestly take me seriously with this...come on give me a little credit even if I did like Amityville!)
JAMES BOND 21(have to do it.  I enjoy many Bond films, and just can't miss it!)
THE CORPSE BRIDE ( The title is perfect, and I like TB's movies)

Here are the ones I am curious about but unsure:
PROM NIGHT (I bet it's going to suck, like Carrie 2)
JURASSIC PARK IV (what could they do now?)

And why, dear God, why is eddie Murphy doing THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN???  But I guess it couldn't be any more worse than House of Sacs...yeah you read right.  Give me a break!

Also what is BEWITCHED a remake of.  Not the TV show right?  Please tell me it's not the TV show.

Yep, "Bewitched" is a big screen version of the classic TV sitcom. Apparently it's supposed to star Nicole Kidman as Samantha and Will Farrell as Darren. Farrel has mentioned quite often in interviews, when asked what he's working on filmwise.

If they do a "Brady Bunch Movie" it might be worth checking out, but elsewise it sounds like a "why bother?" kind of film.

Actually it's going to be a story in a story.

It seems that it's going to be about the actors doing the show and their lives outside of Bewitched.

Gee, how come there's no mention of a second Lost in Space film? After all, the first one was such a big hit...

Okay... here goes.

I liked Miss Congeniality. In fact, I own it and have seen it a huge number of times.  I hope the sequel is good and, even if it isn't, I'll probably see it.

There.

Go ahead and pelt me with insults.
