Don't remember if we have anyone here in FL or otherwise in the direct path of Charley (other than Skaboi near the NC coast), but if so, Good Luck!

For us, we are right in the path; eye is expected to be about 50 mi from my house early tomorrow afternoon, and still tropical storm strength.  The big thing we are expecting to give trouble is the 4-7 inches of rain.

I've a friend who lives aboard his sailboat on SC coast, and he's making his preparations now.  Please keep him (and all others) in your thoughts and prayers, this storm may do some serious damage yet.

One good thing about living here in Iowa.....No hurricanes!

Seriously though, I hope no one gets hurt.
Good luck!

Ulthar,

Good luck to you too man.  We were lucky with that last hurricane Tuesday of last week.

As for this storm, it should be hitting us sometime tomorrow evening/night.  We had a extremely bad storm rip throught this morning.  Tornados in my area, and horrible rain.

Oh well.
That's what I get for living on the coast.  :o)

Things seem to be picking up here.  It's extremely dark outside, but the rain hasn't begun yet.

Looks like the hurricane is going to be coming directly in on my area.  We even have a mandatory evacuation for my county being as it seems to be where it's going to hit.  And yet, I'm stuck at work - unable to leave.

Anyway, I'll try to keep everyone posted as things happen.

And ulthar, post back and let us know if everything is ok.

Things here are fine...it's actually nice outside, the storm is past, and I'm goin' sailing this afternoon!  Charley went a little farther East than originally predicted, and did not seem to re-intensify over the Atlantic like they thought it might.

Haven't heard from my friend in Georgetown, SC yet, though.  He was right in the path.

Thoughts are with you Skaboi, let us know when you can.

PS:  I know some folks in FL who did get hammered a bit.

Keepin' an eye on TD5 out there now.

It's starting to get pretty bad here now.  Lots of tornados and sheer winds.  Hopefully things will clear up as time goes by.  It's basically on top of us at the moment.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Ulthar, good to know that everything is going ok in your part of FL.  Glad to know you made it through unscathed.  Hopefully your friend in SC had the same luck.

Just for the record, I'm in SC, too.  My friend in Georgetown faired well.  I do have one acqaintance who as of today has not heard from his 84 yo mother in the Ft. Meyers, FL area yet.  I'm hoping it's just because com is down.  He's driving down there to see if he can find anything out.
