While watching election coverage last night, I saw two commercials for products with a Christmas theme.
I don't remember companies starting Christmas advertising as early as Nov. 2nd.

They keep starting earlier & earlier every year!

Any thoughts?

Yup.   There's a radio station here in town that;'s already switched to their "all holiday carols" format.

I'm sorry, but is the goal to make us all unbelievably sick of Christmas before the day comes?

I was just watching a really cheesy Dean Cain movie on TBS and, sure enough, there's an ad for a Christmas music CD.  I don't mind seasonal advertising, it sort of gets me in the mood for the holiday, but for pete's sake, they start it this early and by the time Christmas gets here, you're sick to death of it already.

Nov. 2d?  Must be that the election held them off.   What gets me is when the start putting up the Christmas displays at the same time they're putting up Halloween displays.  No wonder I'm tired of Christmas by mid-December.

I've been seeing the ads for Christmas music CDs for a few weeks. Even the Barenaked Ladies have a Christmas music album. But nothing beats the "we're has-beens who will do anything for a buck" factor of a few years ago when Lynyrd Skynyrd put out an X-mas record. The guys who brought you "That Smell" and "Freebird", wonder if there was a triple guitar attack Southern boogie version of "O Tannebaum"?

Plus they already have the display racks of X-mas music up at Wal-Mart. I love that the bargain/seasonal specials aisle has Christmas candy and gift packs on one side and Halloween candy and costumes at clearance prices on the other. Also they already turned the garden center into the holiday center about a month ago, but I go nowhere near it unless I run out of wrapping paper.

I've seen TV and newspaper ads for a bunch of "Christmas in Nashville" events, but that's to be expected, people have to plan ahead for trips and and book reservations for holiday vacations. But the ads are too upbeat and cheerful for me to listen to too much.

From flipping past channels like QVC and HSN they start talking about holidays and put a Christmas tree up just after Labor Day. But it lurks in the background, and they seem to gradually move it into more prominent places as time passes.

I guess it will only be another week or two until one of our soft rock/AC radio stations goes all holiday tunes, if they follow their usual plan.
