We're all just victims of circumstance

It's a big file, but worth the download. This is classic stuff.

It's an .mpg file, so if you right click the link you can download it.

Mr. Trek_geezer, or shall I call you just "trek"?

I just finished viewing the Superman cartoon, and I am both amazed and thrilled
at the technical merits and artistic achievment this cartoon short exhibits.  The way the characters move, their design, and how the cartoon was colored, the
use of many dark colors to achieve a more dramatic result.  Disney wouldn't do that for years to come.  And I would love to know how he pulled off all those sound effects, especially back then; the concept of "foley artists" wouldn't be invented for decades!  I shall be viewing this cartoon short for quite some time just to study the motion(I shall have to figure a way to advance it frame by frame!)

One question to you sir, by what means did you aquire this masterpiece and how did you upload it.  All in all, very, very impressive!

Gratefully,

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

All of the Fleischer Superman cartoons from the 40s are available on DVD.  You can get a complete set from Platinum for about $5.

Reviews and screen captures of all 17 cartoons are available here (yes another shameless plug...but at least it's on topic):

The Fleischer brothers were great  innovaters in the aninmation field. They invented the rotoscope, which is still in use today. A good example of their invention, the Three-Dimensional Setback, is Popeye Meets Ali Babas 40 Thieves. The effect is quite startling like it is described in article linked below.

Max Fleischer Studio

I have several of these on VHS that I bought for my kids years ago. You occasionally can find them in bargain bins. The link I posted is one I had been to several years ago and I found it again recently on a site called  Weird Links.

When my son was about  four we rented Max Fleischer's  Gullivers Travels and he watched it about  five times in one day. It is quite good and the animation is definitely outstanding.
