A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS (2004) - Jim Carey stars as uncle Olaf who is trying to steal the inheritance of three children. Jim Carey is good as usual and the baby quite possible stole the show. You will also see some good performances by John Cleese, Meryle Streep, and Dustin Hoffman. The film is worth a one time viewing. I thought it would be related to Christmas like GRINCH or NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Don't mean to correct, but it was actually Billy Connolly not John Cleese.  I saw Connolly in a preview of the flick, and it looked like he was doing his best Cleese impression.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Wow, he had me fooled. I didn't even bother to check the credits.

I thought the same thing about Cleese until I saw Conolly interviewed on the Daily Show.

I like the imagery in this film. The sets look beautiful. But I don't know if I can put up with three child actors AND Jim Carrey's outrageous overacting... I'm a fan of some of his movies, but he looks like he's laying it on really, really thick in this new film.

What is it about this film and mis-identified actors? When I first saw the ads for it and before they advertised Carey as the star, I was sure that it was Matt Frewer.

Or, Christopher Lloyd, which is what I thought.
