RANCHO NOTORIOUS (1952) - Good Western directed by Fritz Lang and starring Marlene Dietrich. She is about 13 years older than in her earlier Western classic  DESTRY RIDES AGAIN (1939). The story is about "hate, murder, and revenge" of which the catchy song "Chuck-A-Luck" tells us. A mans bride to be is killed during a robbery and he hunts down the outlaw with a little detective work. The film is shot in technicolor and also reminds you of another Western movie called JOHNNY GUITAR (1954).

Yes, Trek-Geezer. You would like this one. I enjoyed it very much. As you know I'm running out of Westerns and then caught this gem.

Something of an oddity, but a great western nevertheless. But, what do you expect from director Fritrz Lang, who before he left Germany directed (the Dr. Mabuse films, "M," "Metropolis," etc.) If you liked this one, you migt also try another one of his westerns, "Western Union" w/ Randolph Scott, Robert Young, Dean Jagger, and Barton Maclane. I might add that Jack Elam, William Frawley, and George (Superman) Reeves also appear in "Rancho Notorious."

Yes a very young thin wild eyed Jack Elam is in RANCHO NOTORIOUS. Where have you been BoyScoutKevin haven't seen you on the board in a while?

I saw WESTERN UNION a couple times as a child, but would like to see it again. Randolph Scott made some very solid Westerns during the 50's. His Westerns were above average during those years in my opinion.
