I recently bought the collector's edition of the original on DVD, and there was a trailer for the new one.....
It was supposed to come out in 2000, but where is it now?????
I would love to know if ANYONE had any info about this film at all....

According to Urban-Vision's website the movie is on its way for a spring 2001 release.  It is directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, the veteran horror anime filmmaker responsible for Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, Goku Midnight Eye, and Demon City Shinjuku, so we can expect the film to be very stylish and entertaining, with lots of well-designed monsters.  It also seems reasonable to expect lots of gratuitous nudity and buckets of gore.

I actually heard about the new film a long time ago on, after one of that site's users saw the movie at the New York Anime Film Festival.  His reaction was emphatically positive.
