Wow.  I caught this on Sci Fi the other day & marveled at the genius of John Carpenter.

So a Vampire Hunter -for hire- goes to Mexico to kill a gang of vampires before they work their way up to the US.  He, of course, has his rag-tag gang consisting of the following:

*The 15 year old kid that lies about his age at first because he wants to hunt too
*The somewhat infected female that got the vampire 'disease' via sex
*The handsome mexican priest that speaks perfect english & makes profound statements

Overall, I found it entertaining.  I'm fully aware that it's a crap movie (which my husband kept pointing out), but that's never stopped me from liking a movie before.

OH YEAH- the best part came with the casting of the main character/hunter:

None other than JON BON JOVI.     Casting genius...

I enjoyed VAMPIRES: LOS MUETROS also. It was a good little Vampire film. Other Carpenter productions that I also liked were VAMPIRES and GHOST OF MARS. I think 25 years from now these films will still be of interest for Horror-Sci-Fi movie fans.

I've always defended "Vampires" as the best film Carpenter has done in the last years. It's amazing what a great director can do with an impossible script and and impossible cast. Guess why I found this sequel so unispired: Tommy Lee Wallace is not John Carpenter. Still, it was reasonably entertaining.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Both Vampires and its sequel were pretty good vampire films.  I have been pretty dissappointed with much of the crappy vampire films released recently, but those two were entertaining and not too ludicrous.  It also seemed a bit more realistic a way of hunting vampires who are stronger than human than the 'lets get all dressed up in impossibly cool clothes, have lots of high tech gadgets and go hunting'

Loved how they drag them into the sunlight.

When I was doing an essay on vampire films compared to the vampire myth, I watched way too many vampire films, many really horrid [Forsaken:Desert Vampires anybody?] And it made for some really really creepy dreams.

Shadow of a Vampire was by far the best one I saw during that short vampire stint I went through.  I highly recommend it: top notch performances and great directing.
