Great review of THE BUDDHIST FIST, Andrew!  Thanks for the laughs.  I especially loved the sound clip of "Left hand Buddha palm, right hand Buddha Fist! Hya, huh, hya, hya."

I've been dying to get an old school kung fu flick reviewed for a while.  Every month (or so) a strange malady afflicts me.  I'm forced to pull some crazy martial arts flicks off my reference shelf and watch them (or buy a couple of new ones to enjoy).

My latest purchase was "The Invincible Kung Fu Trio" and it wasn't nearly as much fun as I remembered.  Not terrible, but The Buddhist Fist was a whole lot of joy.

Ah, kung fu!  Sweet, sweet kung fu!

A lot of the Yuen Woo Ping - choreographed stuff from this period played essentially the same, i.e., there's a plot in there somewhere, but never mind that, here's another cool fight scene!

I especially like the bizarre assassins that keep cropping up in these movies - in Buddhist Fist, it's a fortune teller who kicks your ass with the I Ching materials.  In a movie like Dreadnought, it's a tailor who is constantly trying to kill Wong Fei Hung while fitting him for a new suit, measuring tapes and shears whirling through the air.

I kinda wish real life was like this, but I'd probably wind up being the guy that eats the chess pieces.

Plus it would make buying new clothes a lot more dangerous!  But on the bright side, at least you would have a nice new suit to be buried in, right?

You're kinda that same shape too.  Oh!  And old!  You're certainly old enough to be that guy!

And I have a stick.  And I will be shopping for a strategically placed wineskin.

I do, however, seem to bathe more often than he did.

I always liked the Kung Fu movies were someone must get revenge and there is a big fight at the end were somone dies, but before that the hero must go through special training to improve his skills. Those are my favorites.
