I actually hadn't seen this one before; Dario Argento's first film really shows the influences of Hitchcock and Sergio Leone.  Very visually arresting with a surprisingly straightforward story......I liked it, though had no idea he had ever done a movie with so little violence.

3 slimes.

Has anyone seen the new documentary "Dario Argento: An Eye for Horror?"  It's pretty decent (they have on on Mario Bava as well, same company, but I haven't seen that one yet).  Good interviews with the lovely Asia Argento, who muses on why her father has had her raped in so many of his films......

Yes, the new documentary is very good.  I haven't seen CRYSTAL PLUMAGE though.  I've seen INFERNO (very good), SUSPERIA (even better), and I have PROFONDO ROSSO and TENEBRAE, but haven't had time to watch either of them yet.  I love Argento.  A true master of horro.

Tenebrae is pretty awesome.  I particularly like some of the English translations of the Italian.  As a police inspector consults a mystery writer for advice, he gets the immortal line "Truth is always possible."  Deep words, indeed..........ha ha ha ha

Dig the head bashing scene in Profondo Rosso too......

I thought the new documentery was ok but could have been done better. I don't like how it jumps around from different films quickly or totally leaves a film out without even a mention (tenebre) My favorite parts of the documentery are when Argento discusses his work or the people who have worked with him talk about their experiences on set. World of Horror was also a pretty well done documentery done on him. It was done by Michael Soavi who directed Stage Fright, The Church (waiting for the supposed anchor bay dvd), and cemetery man. Another thing I found out about Soavi is some of his acting roles. He is the guy with the metal mask in Demons, and plays a part in A Blade In the Dark which is a film styled in the same vein as Argento but by Lamberto Bava.
