The bodyguard fight in THE DEEP. I will just say that it involves an outboard motor.

Qui-Gon jin & Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Darth Maul (Star Wars Episode 1) 9/10

the fight in Star Wars Episode one is good but they ruined it by cutting and intersplicing the sequence with all the other stuff that was happening - plus the way Maul dies was pretty crappy.

Neo VS Agent Smith (The Matrix) 9/10

Even though Reeves and Co only had a few months to train, they pulled it off - its such a shame that their fighting styles were dumbed down in the later movies.

If you look at the top 20 fights of all time, you'll see Jackie Chan is in almost all of them.

My personal favorites are:

Police Story 2 - the bit in the playground where Chan has to face lots and lots of hoods.

Meals and Wheels - The fight between Chan and Benny the Jet was superb, but the re-match in Dragons Forever wasn't as good, IMO.

Fist of Legend - every fight is very good.

there is a Donnie Yen movie that I like too but I can't remember the name of it, but its meant to re-define what is meant by hyper-kinetic fight sequences.

Legend of Drunken Master or Drunken Master II (uncut Chinese version, not the hatchet US version) is perhaps the best hyperkinetic fight and is yet to be rivalled.

Three that spring immediately to mind are:

Roddy Piper and Keith David in They Live

The punch-up at the end of The Quiet Man

The brawl at the end of Blazing Saddles

By far the greatest fight scene ever is that from the Matrix 2 on the freeway. I will say that it would be hard to ever surpass anything like that.

However, I am sure you all know David Twohy of Pitch Black fame. I think he is the greatest action director of our time. The scenes he comes up with in Chronicles were masterful, and he isn't afraid of killing the hero.

My favorite martial artist is Jet Li, and Kiss of the Dragon is his finest film. When he takes out the room of black belts and then the Russian twins, it is just tres impressive.

Lets not forget these classics

Spider Man Vs. Green Goblin
Arnold Vs. T-1000
Indiana Jones Vs. The bald Nazi and the propeller plane

These scenes will never cease to amaze me.

I was talking about The Matrix Reloaded. Sorry, but I have not yet seen "Roadhouse".

Menard, I need to ask you something REALLY important. Did you have a discussion yesterday with a person called Travis or BOB? If so, that was one of my friends at school. I am panicking that he was kicked off of the website. Could you please answer?

I posted replies to and received such from someone using the screen name Travis and also someone using the screen name Bob (and bob, and BOB). All originated from the same IP address. We had a good thread going about the TV show AMAZON. Unfortunately, when the address was banned and their/his posts were removed, so was that entire thread.

Ah, great...

He said to me today, after I told him, that he didn't know. He also said that he forgot to write the "Bob" back exactly. So that explains it.

He also said you were a funny bastard.

Great. Just when I could hve a discussion with someone I know from nearby...

I take it that 'bastard' is a compliment. It must be if it was used to describe me. (heh..heh)
