VENGEANCE VALLEY (1951) -  Is a fine Western starring Burt Landcaster as a good cattleman out to help his adoptive brother who turns bad. Really enjoyed this film on DVD as I bought it for $1 at a local dollar store. The color is a little faded, but worth the price. Orignally shot in technicolor by MGM.

Trying to think of other good cattle drive films. Here is a small list.

Red River
The Cowboys
The Culpepper Cattle Company
Will Penny
Open Range
City Slickers

"Monte Walsh" (1970) is a great film about the end of the cattle drive era and what it does to the men who earned their living from the business.

Some other cattle business/cattle drive westerns (but you've probably seen or heard of most of them knowing you, Scott):

Lonesome Dove - obviously needs no introduction.

Alvarez Kelly - decent drama with William Holden and Richard Widmark

Tom Horn - needs no introduction around here

Hud - a great drama of a battling personalities in a tough ranching family.

Rancho Deluxe - more of a modern day (1970s) western comedy, but I love it's modern day take on cattle rustling, along with it's themes of what people seems to be and what they really are, and the "romantic myth" of the Old West.

Pocket Change - another laid back 70s era modern western comedy. A great portrait of two likeable losers trying to get by, with some fun interaction between Lee Marvin and Paul Newman.

Chisum - some people like this take on Billy the Kid and cattle barons, I don't. Well, it has a stampede anyway.

Still have to see LONESOME DOVE, HUD, and MONTE WALSH. Thanks for the information Yaddo didn't know LONESOME DOVE was a cattle drive film. Heard good things about LONESOME DOVE. Just haven't got to it yet as I think it was a longer mini-series. I might view these at the end of my Western movie tour.

Never heard of RANCHO DELUXE or POCKET CHANGE, but will keep a look out for them. Usually don't like Western comedies for some reason. Saw a few.

The only ones I've seen from your list are TOM HORN and ALVEREZ KELLY.

Still have about 15 significant Westerns to view and thats not counting Spaghetti Westerns.
