I'm about halfway through this Phillip Jose Farmer book from 1969, and I'm wondering about your guys opinion of it:
Bad science fiction or extremely good gay porn?

And thus, I plug my blog:

B-B-B-Book? As in R-R-R-Reading? Good God man, have you lost your senses?

I just thought I needed to throw that in there. Seriously, I haven't read it.

You know I have that book and it is a great homage to Doc Savage and Tarzan, but you are right, it is too kinky.

I remember being tremendously excited reading Tarzan Alive! for the first time, and started in on The Riverworld series.
Midway around book 4 or 5, I just gave up.  I felt like the story had given up long before I did.  Which was a damn shame, because the first 3 books are beyond terrific.
Farmer may suffer from that condition that causes one to write uncontrollably, I don't know, but yes, homoeroticism, paedophilia, and all the dark stuff from Sacher-Masoch play heavy elements in all his novels.

Well, it is holding my interest. Great picture on the cover, Tarzan and Doc Savage beating each other up. Just read "Son of Man", by Robert Silverberg awhile ago, so I'm starting to think that 69 was the year of the incessantly ejaculating protagonist. Amusing part of that is that there's a *little* hint of sanctimony there, like "what, are you uptight or something, man?"

Riverworld has got to be the greatest premise in the history of written fiction. I love the titles too, except that The God's of Riverworld should have been called The Magic Labyrinth, and The Magic Labyrinth should have just been skipped. The story he told with it could have fit into one or two smallish books, though. Everything he writes is a bit weird, I think. I really dug Jesus On Mars, but I might have just been in a good mood when I read it.

Whoa, I started this thread before I'd even gotten to the leopard humping part, let alone "My experience in biting off clitorises was nil, but I succeded quickly."

Almost interesting: One of the symbols of the Nine is the hannunvaakuna. I image googled it, and it turns out to be the symbol of Playboy Press, which is on the spine of the book.

Things I learned from this book:
 - After a woman has fellated you, the proper way of reciprocating is with your finger.
 - Should one ever resort to cunnilingus, the proper technique is "ramming her with your tongue"...

Wrong on both counts, the is the greast book of all TIME! Anyone that think other wise should have his own balls ripped off and presented to their face.
