Last night I watched another $1 Walmard DVD find. Bowery at Midnight starring Bela Lugosi. While I was expecting a horror flick this turned out to be a crime drama. Lugosi plays a criminology professer who moonlights as a charitable all round nice guy running a bowery. In reality he's an insane criminal mastermind using the bowery as a front for theft and murder. Eventually zombies pop up, pretty much out of nowhere for no good reason but I'm not complaining. All round this is an enjoyable flick. Lugosi really shines here as the dispicable villian who's a loving husband and respected professer on the surface. All in all I got way more than my dollars worth. The film also stars Dave O'Brian who you'll remember as Ralph from Reefer Madness.
