I'm hanging out for Batman Begins.  I thought Christian Bale was superb in 'Equilibrium', and this Batman looks nice and dark, like it *should* be.  When I saw Daredevil, I thought that it had the darker edge that Batman *should* have had.  I have high hopes for Batman Begins.

Now, as for The DaVinci Code, that's more of a curiosity I will notice only in passing...

Susan--I just watched "Undead" last night, and thought it was terrific.  Apparantly, I'm in the minority, as it gets verbally beat down pretty bad over at IMDb.  I'm a nut for zombie movies, though.  They always score high with me, even if they're s**t.

I also have "NIght Watch" and am just waiting for the right time to catch it.  Wicked-looking flick from the trailer!

Will likely go see "Land of the Dead" and "The Devil's Rejects" at the theatre.

I saw Unleashed and posted a review on it on the site. In summary its ok and you are not missing anything if you don't see it.

Dr. Kobb,

Do post a review of Night Watch when you get around to viewing it.  It was the Russian first film that I've seen, and it's quite a sight to behold.  Looks like it's going to be released this year in the US.

Will do, Skaboi!  Though I should warn that my review-skills are strictly neophyte-level.  I'm a movie-lover, but am clueless on the technical aspects and the effort that goes into the behind-the-scenes. Therefore, I tend to be pretty lenient on indie films, while blasting away at those zillion-dollar Hollywood monsters for the least little thing.
Dunno if you read my 'review' of "Blade:Trinity"(in another thread here), which I cut-n'-pasted from another board I frequent, but it might give an idea.  My views are a tad tweaked.

Dr. Kobb,

I know how you feel.  I'm certainly not the best reviewer either (keeptheticket.com is proof).

But any review from a fellow b movie buff is a good review!

Can anyone tell me how to download the Nightwatch trailer and save it as a file?  I've tried getting the link from the Source page and putting it into FlashGet, but it doesnt work like that.  Anyone? :-)))

I remember when 'Unleashed' had the working title 'Danny the Dog'.  The premise of Jet Li being raised like a dog and being found by a blind Samuel Jackson sounded ludicrous.  I hope it's at least okay.

The trailer for Night Watch looks seriously insane.  I wonder how much money they put in to the CGI?  A Sound of Thunder doesn't look too bad either, the premise kind of reminds me of that Michael Crichton book.

And can someone please tell me how to download these Quicktime trailers as a saveable file?

Thanks, Rich.  Well, I suppose the word 'bummer' might be appropriate.

Saw Undead sometime last year, I liked it.

By far, not the best acting out there, but it makes up for it with charm!

I especially like the opening scene showing various townspeople getting hit by meteors\meteorites.  Very silly.

Also, with Unleashed, I just watched the trailer that Susan put the link up for, and I can't help thinking that Danny the Dog would have worked just fine for a title, especially with the emphasis at the end of that guy saying 'you are my dog.'

I mean, I know 'Unleashed' is meant to give it a traditional Jet Li movie title and is an attempt to get more viewers via his fan base, but still, I think sometimes it's better to set yourself apart, especially if this film is supposed to be a 'different' kind of Jet Li film.

Speaking of Jet Li, one thing that annoys the heck out of me is how American distributors change the name, music and box art of his (and other HK) movies to 'better suit' an American audience.

In America there is a Jet Li movie called 'Meltdown', which has a stupidly-muscled ***drawing*** of Jet Li grimacing like he's got a big load stuck on the way out.  The original title of the movie is 'High Risk' and had a much funnier (and more realistic) picture of Jet and Jacky Cheung (?) on the cover.

Then there was the idiotic dubbing and script changes to the American release of Fist of Legend, probably my favourite Jet Li movie ever.

Why the distribution companies can't leave well enough alone is beyond me.  They think they are getting more dollars from a wider audience, but they are just p**sing off the fans.

You're right, Dean, 'Danny the Dog' would probably have worked as a title given the plot, although on its own it might have seemed a bit odd.

"Say, have you heard of that new movie?"

"What, 'Danny the Dog'?"

Ah well, I guess it's a matter of perception.  'Unleashed' is more in line with other Jet Li movies, and an interesting play on the 'dog' concept, too.

I too thought that Danny The Dog was a great title for the film.  I was pretty surprised when they changed it to Unleashed.  Hell, Danny The Dog might have brought in a bigger audience due to the strange title.  Imagine how many families would take their kids to see it!

I don't mind dubbing into [often bad] english, but only as an added extra on the dvd audio, since bad dubbing can really add to a film's 'charm.'

I remember a Jackie Chan film whose name I can't remember but it was basically a Hong Kong gangster film.  Now I don't mean Triads like the "Young and Dangerous" series, but traditional western gangsters, and the dubbing was with that language of the corny traditional gangster-type, and was hilarious.

I also don't mind 'Unleashed' as a title, but I just don't like people making changes based on what they think people would prefer, or as an underhanded attempt to market a film towards an audience who are expecting something different.
