We're all just victims of circumstance

Seems digitally remastering classic cartoons isn't the way to go. Although I am a fan of good digital effects, sometimes the slow, patient way works best.

I bought one of those dollar dvds of the pre-cat and mouse Tom and Jerry recently and I'd hate to see something like that cleaned up or colorized or anything. The imperfections in the sound and everything are part of the whole. You know you are seeing something from earlier times. They reflect the period. I don't see a lot of this as any different than someone painting over cave art because it has become worn. I want to see the "worn". I also find the new cg animation to be ungracefully hyperactive and empty. I'm no huge South Park fan, but the early construction paper animation had a lot more appeal to me.  The new Disney stuff and other major release animation is gawdy and sterile.

I couldn't have said it better, h.p. Love.

I'd just like to add that it's especially strange to me to see something like "Don't Look In The Basement", or some other drive-in schlock all cleaned-up and digitalized.  I expect to see the pops n' scratches n' all.
