[The Burgomaster]

Here is a movie that all you western fans should see.  I just bought the newly-released DVD, and I am very glad that I did.

The plot:  Candice Bergen gets kidnapped by Oliver Reed and his band of outlaws.  Bergen's husband, Gene Hackman, a wealthy jerk, is on a hunting trip on his private train when he finds out about the kidnapping.  Hackman and his hunting buddies, equipped with state-of-the-art long-range rifles with telescopic sites, track down Reed and company and pick them off one-by-one in some fairly bloody gun battles.

Overall, the movie is pretty dark . . . all of the characters are miserable and hopeless and it is difficult to like any of them.  But I guess that's one of the reasons why I really like this movie.  It isn't a run-of-the-mill western with good guys and bad guys.  Instead, it is a bleak revenge flick full of flawed characters.  After about the first 15 minutes, you won't be sure who you are rooting for.  But rest assured, there are plenty of deaths on BOTH sides.

Sounds like a great Western Burgomaster. It's now on my list. Just seen it on the store shelve today and was curious about it. Thanks for the info Burgomaster.
