Basically what could be expected from an early 90s (or late 80s) actioner, although this one has an A cast (well, they were A actors back then) with the likes of Charlie Sheen, Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton.

Most of the time, it looks quite a cheap and uninspired film, though. While the script seems to aim for a grounded ""Top Gun" remake, occasional action feels tired and boring. Plot is standard, and quite heavy on plot holes, as well. For instance, while the starrring SEAL team is looking for some american stinger missiles now in the power of some terrorist group, we are never told how they ever got them in the first place.

Acting is so-and-so. Biehn is OK, but Charlie Sheen looks way over the top as the action junkie Hawkins. Worse is that, acording to the screen, we are supposed to like his character, even if he looks dumb and retarded.

The redeeming cuality of the movie comes at its last quarter, when the SEAL team has to infiltrate Beirut to finish the job. The settings there are nothing short of fantastic (I've read they used some spanish cities that were under heavy remodelation, but couldn't recognise anything that gave them away), and director Lewis Teague finally is given the ocassion to stage some decent action, as the SEALs try to meke their way to the enemy headquarters without being caught in the fights between muslim militias.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

This is the one where 'extreme action junkie' Charlie Sheen throws himself off a moving jeep off a bridge into the river below.  I always thought that doing so would really really hurt [alot] and therefore he would be taken out of the team because of injury!  But lets not let that stop us from seeing extreme action!

Look, obviously this is meant to be a bit of a fun movie, and that it was.  Some decent action and the casting is pretty good with the two main characters 'mister responsible' and 'mister go kick-ass'  [sure the acting isn't but we don't expect much for this type of film now do we??]

Overall, I enjoyed it: something to watch with your friends over a few beers and a barbeque on the weekend for a bit of fun.

This is one of those movies that grates on my nerves while at the same time, I do enjoy watching it.  There is so much in this that is just stupid, but it is a fun flick.  I think it just takes itself a LITTLE too seriously.

Having studied, and trained, the fine art of long range marksmanship, of course my favorite line:

Seal:  "God, God!"
The Reply, calm: "God Here"

Who was, of course, Bill Paxton on the .50 in overwatch. And that .50 did it's J-O-B when he fired it.  Hehehe.

Professor Hathaway:  I noticed you stopped stuttering.
Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.
